G-290 Public Information Officer
This class focuses on essential emergency PIO functions and will teach PIOs how to write a news release, conduct an on-camera interview and prepare awareness campaigns. This class fulfills a requirement for the Pennsylvania Professional Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator certification. The class is a prerequisite for the Advanced Public Information Course (E388) at the Emergency Management Institute and is an Elective for Advanced Professional Series (APS) certification.
Target Audience: This updated 16-hour course is designed for the new or less experienced Public Information Officer (PIO) or for anyone who may be asked to fill the role in an expanding incident. HCEMA also STRONGLY ENCOURAGES school, municipal, business and industry information officers along with current public media professionals to attend in order to create an immersive and interactive learning environment.

This class occurs Monday, March 30, Wednesday, April 1, Monday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each evening.
All participants much register not later than Wednesday, March 25; therefore, early registration is encouraged.
