Hazmat Teams - The main function of the region's Hazardous Materials Response Teams is to mitigate emergencies caused by the uncontrolled release of hazardous materials. These teams are fully certified by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Each team is specially equipped and consists of highly trained individuals that are available to respond to hazardous materials incidents throughout the region. Decon Strike Teams - The purpose of the Decon Strike Teams is to provide mass decontamination to large numbers of individuals who have been potentially contaminated with harmful or life-threatening substances. The region’s mobile decontamination trailers can be deployed throughout the region to assist with mass decon when local resources available are overwhelmed.
